The Schwerpunktgespräche öffentlicher Raum are a public lecture and discussion series exploring the history, significance, and future of public space through perspectives from architecture, art, and urban research.
The series runs from January to May 2026 in Zurich and online, is free to attend, and begins with its first lecture this Wednesday.

Starting in March 2026, Florian Strauß will take on the professorship for “Sustainability, Design, and Construction in Landscape Architecture” at the Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences.

At Studio Vulkan, we value working across scales and turning ideas into built reality. During a visit to our construction site at the City Gardens in Dunkelhölzli, we explored how design concepts take shape through earthworks and terrain formation – an essential part of learning from the physical world.

Every summer semester, Florian Strauß contributes to the lecture series Elements of Urban Design with Prof. Karin Schmid through his lecture Outside, which explores the fundamentals of open space planning in relation to building typologies, cultural context, and the integration of urban and architectural design.

During the winter semester, Florian Strauß is a guest lecturer at Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences, where he contributes to the course “Construction and Implementation Planning” led by Prof. Ingrid Schegk, offering practical insights into structural design and execution planning.
