1st Place: Settlement Sonnenhalde Zurich

The new neighborhood draws on the principles of the garden city, combining a strong connection to the surrounding landscape with a clear sense of address for each residential building. Towards Leimbachstrasse, the development becomes more compact, while on the opposite side the open spaces flow into the Bachtobel, where the impressive existing trees form a natural backdrop. By working with these established landscape features and integrating generous green spaces throughout, the design creates a cohesive settlement that strengthens community life and offers a high-quality, varied living environment.
