Over the past months, Studio Vulkan has been developing a vision for the future of Northern Lviv based on two closely connected ideas: the landscape as a structuring framework, and the cell as a unit of gradual urban growth.
The Emerald Network forms the ecological and spatial backbone of the proposal. It connects forests, valleys, agricultural land, ecological corridors and existing green spaces into a continuous landscape system — not as residual open space, but as a primary structure guiding future development.

Within this larger framework, new urban growth is organised through settlement cells. Each cell responds to its own conditions: topography, ownership patterns, existing routes, local communities and landscape character. Rather than imposing a fixed masterplan, the proposal allows the city to grow through continuity, adaptation and local identity.

Urša Habič, Lukas Schweingruber and Simon Enemærke presented the final part of the study at the third workshop, bringing together the spatial, ecological and urban design principles developed throughout the process.
