Sports Complex Seoul – 4th Place
We are pleased to share that our team received 4th prize in the international competition for the Gwangjang-dong Multi-Sports Complex in Seoul.
The proposal reimagines the site as an open and accessible urban park that reconnects the sports complex with its surrounding landscape and the Han River. A continuous network of vegetation, soil systems, tree canopies and pedestrian routes forms the ecological and spatial framework of the project, creating a coherent environment where nature and public life are closely intertwined.
Designed to accommodate professional sports, recreational activities, cultural events and everyday community use, the project establishes a flexible public realm that encourages interaction between diverse users and programs. By integrating ecological restoration with public space and sports infrastructure, the proposal seeks to create a resilient landscape that supports both urban life and environmental performance.
The project was developed as part of an international consortium led by Hildebrand Studios in collaboration with Lokaldesign, ATEC, DLA+, ARUP, EAN Technologies and Tuneworx.
